Social Media on the Awareness

Social media has proven to be one of the main gates for information and news related to autism, creating a positive increase of people aware of this condition.

People, in general, have difficulties to stay in touch with their friends in real life. The stress of living in a busy environment leaves no time for hanging out with others; this creates distance between you and the people you would like to be with at any given time. This struggle seems to have decreased due to the addition of social media in this generation. Not only this has made it connect us with those we care, it allows us to meet people from other parts of the world. This is a massive bridge for communication, leading us to understand what is like to live in other places.

This connection also made it create tools for communities who want to be heard and supported. The autism initiatives have grown along with the technological developments in the world, creating a door for people who need their voices to be heard.

The world of social media is very complex as well, a place where a “like” or positive comments raise the mood, can also be the source of negative intentions or even harassment. When used correctly, social media has tools that help others get the support they need. This is what autism communities look for: to help others by raising the awareness through the internet by becoming defenders of those in need.

As the awareness grows, the collaboration of people who defend and stand for autistic people start to multiply, creating people who are willing to support the initiatives in any way possible. This is where social media becomes the intermediary tool to raise consciousness on the matter.

There are people with bad intentions in both the internet and the real world, that’s an undeniable truth. Parents and communities need to be aware and fight against this non-stop. All these efforts are to build a better place for children to grow happily. Autism Soccer is one of those organizations that work day and night for children with special needs, if you’re willing to support them, access their website and donate, do it for the children!
There are communities that try their best to reach those in need, with tools and information to help children with autism.
