There are many traits autistic kids have, make sure you know how to act accordingly to each one. |
The subject of autism has been under constant discussion among specialists on the matter. The complexity of the Autism Spectrum Disorder is the primary reason for the continuous studies on children to see how it develops on them. There can’t be two kids who share the same symptoms or disabilities: this is what makes ASD a challenge for experts.
There are so many different characteristics, and each one of these has certain ways to be worked. Check these five traits in autistic children and the best tools to improve them:
- Excessive honesty: Most of the problems kids have with their peers are caused by the way they openly express what they think about others, this causes uncomfortable situations. To avoid this attitude, talk to your children and explain to them how to control their honesty with others.
- Unawareness or absence: The lack of interest in children is one of the reasons social interaction becomes a difficulty for kids, causing them to be felt out in their group. This is hard to work out, but you could try telling them to focus on the place they’re in, whenever you need it. Practice with them back home with concentration games to make them aware of the situation they’re in at he moment.
- Reading comprehension: They have a hard time with certain symbolisms or expressions like the use of sarcasm or metaphors. The solution is to explain the meaning of certain symbols or to tell your children to ask if they do not understand certain phrases or writing styles when reading.
- Motor activities: Activities that require excessive coordination are a challenge for them, like printing, coloring and gluing. One possible way to solve this is to train their motor skills with crafting activities (*).
- Inability to follow orders: It’s not that they’re rebellious, children with ASD have problems listening and paying attention in general. You need to train their focusing skills to increase their concentration.
There are many different ways to help them in their various traits, working on them won’t erase the symptoms but improve the way they deal with these. Autism Soccer is becoming an alternative for children to help them in their development, contact them to help your kids develop.
